During the last phase of developing a successful video conferencing software product for Acer Advanced Labs, Medius IV was asked to find a solution to reduce software packaging costs and to simplify the logistics of fulfillment.

After some research and collaboration between Acer's and Medius IV's development teams, the solution for both objectives resided within a single tool: a built-in manual for the product in the form of a tutorial tool.

Already familiar with the target audience and the product, our creative team was able to immediately initiate the development of this tool by creating a structure that was both logical and straightforward. Visual cues were used to reinforce orientation, enabling users to intuitively navigate through the product's sophisticated features, either through an automated tutorial or a step-by-step guide.

While the development of the video conferencing software was moving through the quality assurance phase, our engineering team was utilizing proprietary optimization techniques to unlock performance while exceeding the standards of 8-bit quality, thereby assuring a low resource requirement for the tutorial.

By taking advantage of the development cycle of the product and utilizing a development team already intimately familiar with the product, the manual was digitally incorporated into the product, which resulted in a significant cost savings over traditional printed manuals and a simplified fulfillment process for Acer Advanced Labs. A post-release usability group revealed an added benefit: by creating confidence for the user in using the product efficiently and with more comfort, the integrated tutorial tool ended up in aiding the sales of the video conferencing software product, producing higher than expected sales.
